"Gold Coyote"

"My work serves as an exploration of life and death in the most raw, animalistic form that we emotionally experience it. Struggles of identity, desire and transformation are conveyed anthropomorphically to display the instinctual nature of these emotions and their necessity to our development and adaptation to our environment, as well as the continuous death and rebirth of different people we exist as during our lifetime. I am a UNT Art and Design graduate living in Denton, Texas." - Keri

McKay Harcus

McKay Harcus is a student of UNT, born and raised in Denton, Tx.

"I have always had a love for painting and art. At Billy Ryan High School I learned the most about art from three amazing teachers, Todd Ford, Amiee Foutch, and Brian Pierce. After high school I joined the Army where I served for almost six years. I regret to say it, but I stopped painting while in the military. I have since moved back to Denton and I now have two beautiful daughters. About a year ago I decided I would pick up a paint brush again. The whole year I have been experimenting and finding what works for me. I have discovered that I love to paint with the brightest colors I can get my hands on. I finally feel like I know how I paint, and I am very excited to share it." - Mckay

Jennifer Cummings

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. Recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a BFA in Fibers. I currently reside in Denton, TX with my boyfriend and our Rat Terrier.

My artwork is about female anatomy and natural fertility awareness. While researching alternatives to hormonal birth control, I had very little knowledge about the ovarian cycle and the female reproductive system in general. It wasn't until I was twenty two that I learned more about what my body is actually doing on a daily basis. Through much reading and research, I came to realize that I was not alone when it came to being uninformed about my own body. If more women and young girls had information readily available to them about how to fully know and understand their bodies, they would feel more empowered and in tuned with themselves. My work is inspired by books I have read and my own fertility charts, and serves to open a discussion about the empowerment of body literacy.

Elizabeth Dryden

Elizabeth Dryden is a mixed media artist who graduated in Art Education from Texas Woman's University in 2005 and lived in the beloved town of Denton, TX from 2002 to 2005. Working with various subjects, Elizabeth layers information within her work juxtaposing interesting and often opposing ideas within each other. While often exploring the paradoxical relationships between beauty and darkness, she believes there is a balance in everything, and one side of the pendulum cannot exist without the other. Her work is a reflection of these inner battles which she often times portrays using animals as symbols for her message. Elizabeth currently works as a full time artist in her studio in Dallas, TX and is always taking commission orders.
